Funding for Training from Skills for Care

Posted on August 9, 2017 in News

Funding is now available for direct payment receipts and self-funders who employ their own carers.

If you’re an individual employer who employs your own personal assistants through a direct payment or with your own money, you can apply for funding from Skills for Care for training for yourself and your staff.

Find out more about the funding and download the application form from the Skills for Care website.

The funding can be used for lots of different training courses and qualifications including:

  • communication skills
  • British sign language
  • first aid
  • health and safety
  • condition specific training such as dementia or autism awareness
  • Health and Social Care Diplomas.

It can also cover travel costs and the cost of hiring replacement PAs.

Applications close on 28 February 2018.

Furthermore, there’s lots of information and guidance for individual employers, personal assistants and those who support them, such as user led organisations, on the Skills for Care information hub for individual employers and personal assistants.

And finally, if you’re an individual employer who’s committed to the learning and development of your PAs, enter our Accolades for the chance to win this award and celebrate the great work you do.
If you know of any individual employers doing a great job with their PAs, then either nominate them for the Accolades 2018 or encourage them to enter themselves. Visit www.skillsforcare.org.uk/Accolades.
